FOLLONICA, ITALY-(26-5-2005) Today the fifth and sixth races of the Woorld Soling Championship were raced in Castiglione della Pescaia, confiming this to be an ideal race course. The fifth race was won by SLO1 followed by BRA 68 and in third positionGER 300. The victory of the sixth race went to ARG 32, with AUT 117 in second place and e GER 300 placed third once again. The german brothers Roman and Max Koch with Jornenann (GER 300) dominate the scoreboard. Back on the dock Koch said: `You can't believe how happy I am!! If they offered mu the honorary citizenship of Castiglione, I would accept.But`, he continued bursting out laughing ` I would certainly be a Big Maremma Boy!`

The first race of the day took off at 12.51 p.m. and saw winds from the north east at 7 - 8 knots. In the course of the first race a wind shift forced the Race Committee to ch'ange the windward mark. The SLovenian team Antoncic, Strakh, Hmeljak (SLO1) cut the finish line first followed by BRA68 (Cunha, Falcao, Goretkin) and in third position GER300 (Koch, Koch, Jornenann). First among the Italians ITA 242 (Veronesi, Megni, Consolati) whose helmsman, born in 1923, is the legendary Taki (over 80 years old) `I like sailing here; the wind turns a lot and it makes the race course quite technical and difficult` said Brazilian Goretkin, adding ` It's my second time in Castiglione and the people here are wonderful.` The second race of the day starter at 3.30 p.m. with the wind that was now from the west at 10 - 12 knots. The victory went to the standing World Champion ARG 32 (Warburg, Celedoni, Smith), followed by AUT 117 (Auteried, Kendler, Moser) and in third position GER 300.

2) SLO 1 (Antoncic, Strakh, Hmeljak)
3) HUN (Gyenese, Monus, Vezer)
The first three Italians are:
15) ITA 243 (G. Tognozzi, Seri, Soffici)
21) ITA 201 (Valle, Maramai, Piccioni)
22) ITA 203 (Maffezzoli, Maffezzoli Maffezzoli)

Tomorrow the first start is scheduled for 1.30 p.m. The Prize Giving Ceremony and closing party will take place at 7 p.m. at the Castiglione della Pescaia Sailing Club.

The Soling World Championship has been organized by the Club Velico Castiglione della Pescaia, in collaboration with the International Soling Association, the International Sailing Federation, the Italian Sailing Federation (FIV) and the committee Circoli Velici della Costa Etrusca.
